A whale washed up, already dead, at Praia dos Salgados, in Albufeira, this Sunday, at the end of the afternoon, he told the Sul Informação, Gonzalez dos Paços, Captain of the Port of Portimão.
According to the official, the animal, which was adrift, “had been followed since yesterday” and washed up on the coast around 18:30.
The Maritime Authority will now “contact Civil Protection to proceed with the removal of the animal”, as well as the ICNF “to take measurements and study the cause of death”.
According to Gonzalez dos Paços, the red flag was not raised on the beach, and there is still no indication as to when the animal will be removed.
