AMAL (Comunidade Intermunicipal do Algarve) has the Tourist Mobility Plan in place for the Algarve Region, which, in a first phase, provides an opinion survey to tourists on the subject.

The plan, which is divided into several phases, now wants to «identify the needs of the different tourist segments that are more predominant at different times of the year».

The purpose of the inquiry is «to allow a collection of information that makes it possible to provide better conditions to all those who visit the region, whatever the time of year, contrary to the idea that the Algarve is just “Sun and Sea”», says AMAL in a press release. press.

In a previous phase, surveys were already carried out with tourists on the beaches and at the Faro, during the Easter period, and in the months of June and July, workshops were held with the municipalities and other interested parties, to identify possible constraints and felt needs, in terms of mobility and tourism.

Later, a final report will be prepared, which will reflect actions and guidelines for improving the mobility system in the region, with the presentation of this document scheduled for the end of the year.

On the other hand, to ensure the involvement of residents in the regional mobility ecosystem, specifically VAMUS network users, there is also a inquiry in this sense.

The initiatives are being developed within the scope of the RIA project – Algarve Intelligent Region, of which the CCDR is also a part; UAlg – University of Algarve and RTA – Tourism Region. AMAL is in charge of implementing Smart Mobility solutions.
