Albufeira sensitizes vacationers to the danger of cliffs

in July and August

Albufeira will host awareness-raising actions so that vacationers can enjoy its beaches safely and avoid getting too close to the cliffs, in July and August.

The National Maritime Authority and the Maritime Police will tour the 25 beaches in the municipality, two days a week, between 9:30 am and 11:30 am, to promote the awareness campaign about the danger of the cliffs “Enjoy the beach safely! Collaborate for their protection”.

The two entities will distribute leaflets “with the necessary behaviors to adopt in a situation of danger, so that all bathers are informed about the main dangers of the cliffs”, according to the Albufeira Chamber.

For José Carlos Rolo, «it is extremely important to ensure the safety of everyone who visits our beaches».

The entities responsible for the beaches, on the other hand, advise that all bathers stay away from the top or bottom of the cliffs and that they respect the existing danger signs.
