August in the Algarve sees the return of Medieval Days, Sardine Festival and Fatacil

There is a lot to choose from

The return of the Medieval Days (Castro Marim), the Sardinha Festival (Portimão) and Fatacil (Lagoa) are the main highlights of the August edition of the “Algarve Guide”, which brings together more than 200 events taking place in the region over the next month. - 

From the 24th to the 28th of August, the Medieval Days will enliven the Algarve village of Castro Marim with the exhibition of arts and crafts, trade, theatrical and musical shows and banquets.

Likewise, the Medieval Fair of Silves returns from the 10th to the 20th of August, with 11 days of historical recreation of the medieval period of the former capital of the Kingdom of the Algarve.

The Sardinha Festival, one of the biggest summer gastronomic events in the Algarve, returns to liven up the riverside area of ​​Portimão from the 3rd to the 7th of August. During the five days of the festival, roasted sardines dripping on bread are once again the queen, but there is no lack of other reasons for interest. From handicrafts to sweets, from street entertainment to music, national artists and bands deserve to be highlighted: João Leote with Marisa Liz (03rd), David Fonseca (04th), Bárbara Tinoco (05th), Wet Bed Gang (06th) and David Career (07).

FATACIL, a fair that brings together trade exhibitions, live handicrafts, agriculture, equestrian shows, regional cuisine, street entertainment and concerts, is also back in Lagoa. From the 19th to the 28th of August, there is a pilgrimage for national and foreign visitors.

The musical lineup features Expensive Soul (19th), Gipsy Kings by Diego Baliardo (20), João Pedro Pais (21), Profjam (22), Quim Barreiros (23), Plutónio (24), Bárbara Bandeira (25), Resistance (26), Fernando Daniel (27) and Tony Carreira (28).

Aimed at residents and tourists and published monthly by the Algarve Tourism Board, the «Guia Algarve» is a bilingual publication (Portuguese and English), with a circulation of 35 thousand copies and free distribution in hotels, travel agencies, tourist offices. , airport of Faro, rent-a-cars and golf courses in the region.
