A bush fire, in Vale Grande de Baixo, parish of São Marcos da Serra (Silves), is being fought by 121 workers, supported by 42 vehicles.
CDS source told the Sul Informação that the fire, which has two active fronts, is not, for the time being, threatening inhabited areas.
The fire started at 20:53 pm, and firefighters are expected to be able to bring it under control overnight.
