Videos that are «simple manuals» teach grafting, pruning and horticulture

André Gil, pruner, Paula Pedro, agronomist and organic producer, and Fernando Martins, grafter, are the protagonists.

«Ria Inquieta» and Al Bio Associação Agroecológica do Algarve have just released, on their YouTube channel, three videos to learn how to graft, prune and make horticulture, which «help to understand how plants should be cared for before their products come to our table”.

«The fruits and vegetables we eat grow and develop thanks to the knowledge and experience accumulated over many years by specialized producers and technicians». The three videos were created precisely “so that this knowledge and some secrets reach even more people”.

At what height should an orange tree be pruned and which branches to cut? Why should a tree be grafted and when is the best time to do so? Should I plant lettuce near tomato plants? For most consumers these and other questions are dead ends, but for the protagonists of the videos they are their daily lives.

André Gil, pruner, Paula Pedro, agronomist and organic producer, and Fernando Martins, grafter, answer these and many other questions.

«His knowledge respects the sense of regeneration and preservation of nature, particularly in the context of the Algarve region, and seeks to transmit the values of the Mediterranean Diet», explain the two associations.

The 20-minute videos are authentic “simple but didactic manuals that reveal a lot of what you need to know to take care of a vegetable garden or take care of trees”.

The production of the videos, directed by Henrique Mestre, was in charge of Ria Inquieta, while Al-Bio is responsible for the production of all program content directed by Ângela Rosa.

The videos were presented at the Agricultural Documentary Exhibition of Tavira, within the scope of the Viva a Primavera Municipal program and are available at all times on digital channels and social networks.
