Gathering at the Library of Faro highlights protection and reception of refugees

Library challenged the “ABC Groups Project | Support for refugee children and their caregivers”

Another gathering of the project «Social Library – Humaniza-te», this time aimed at «raising awareness and reflecting on the need to understand, accept and integrate these refugee families seeking protection», takes place on June 21, at 17:30 pm, at the Municipal Library of Faro Antonio Ramos Rosa, Faro.

This library dedicates the current month to Refugees, taking into account that, on June 20, the World Refugee Day is celebrated, an occasion to promote empathy and understanding around this situation and recognize the resilience of refugee people in rebuilding their lives. .

This time. the library challenged, as a partner this month, the “Grupos ABC Project | Support for refugee children and their caregivers”, financed by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and promoted by the Associação Oficina do Sentir.

It is intended that mothers and technicians will give their testimony about their integration and the difficulties they have been going through and the best way to welcome them into the local community.

The National Support Center for the Integration of Migrants in the Algarve (CNAIM Algarve) will also be present, promoting the specialized assistance service for Migrants, in order to identify victims of Domestic Violence and/or Harmful Traditional Practices (PTN), which has its office in the Citizen's Shop.

Under the heading “Inclusion Thursdays”, every Thursday in June, sessions with the story “A Viagem” will be held for 1st cycle schools in the municipality of Faro. The same story will be told, on June 25th, on Family Saturdays.

During this month, the library of Faro it also hosts the national campaign “Books for Peace”, promoted by Arte-Via Cooperativa – the collected books will be sent to the Association of Ukrainians in Portugal to go to Ukraine on the first day of peace.
