Quarteira: Man arrested who threatened GNR military with replica firearm

The arrest took place following “a complaint reporting a situation of contempt and aggression” in a bar

A 35-year-old man who was involved in contempt and aggression in a bar in Quarteira and who threatened GNR soldiers with a replica firearm was arrested this Monday, 20 July.

According to the Territorial Command of Faro of the GNR, the arrest, for possession of a prohibited weapon and aggravated threat, occurred following “a complaint reporting a situation of contempt and aggression”.

After arriving at the scene, the military looked for the alleged perpetrator of the attacks and found a man, in the vicinity of the bar, "who corresponded to the description provided".

The suspect, “when he realized the presence of the GNR, fled on foot”, was pursued by the military and, after trying to threaten them with a replica firearm, was intercepted and detained.

The arrest was made by the Territorial Subdetachment of Quarteira, with the reinforcement of the Cinotechnic Intervention Group of the Intervention Unit.

The man was made a defendant and presented to the Judicial Court of Loulé, for the application of coercive measures.
