Portimão hosts Social Innovation meeting in the Algarve

The meeting «Social Innovation in the Algarve: balance, achievements and future perspectives» will take place on the 17th of June, Friday, from 10:00 am, at the Municipal Museum of Portimão, in an initiative of the Algarve Regional Operational Program – CRESC Algarve 2020 and the Portugal Social Innovation Mission Structure, in partnership with the Municipality of Portimão.

Starting a cycle of four events to present the results of operations supported by the Algarve Operational Programme, this initiative will also serve to present the lines of intervention of Portugal 2030 and Algarve 2030, in particular in the fields of inclusion and social innovation.

This first meeting will feature the Secretary of State for Regional Development, at the opening, and with Ana Abrunhosa, Minister of Territorial Cohesion, at the close. José Apolinário, president of CCDR Algarve and of the Algarve 2020 Management Committee, and Isilda Gomes, president of Portimão City Council will also be present.

The Algarve Operational Program 2014-2020 has, according to CCDR Algarve, an allocation of 318 million euros in European Funds, of which 231 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and 87 million from the European Social Fund (ESF) and should be fully implemented by mid-2023.

In the Algarve, management is responsible for a Steering Committee chaired by the president of CCDR Algarve, which includes the president of the Algarve Intermunicipal Community (AMAL), representing the Municipalities, and a representative of the Government, supported by a technical structure in the CCDR Algarve.

In a statement, CCDR Algarve also emphasizes that, until 31 May, Algarve 2020 had approved 1 applications with an approved eligible investment of 565 million euros and paid 617 million euros of European funds to the beneficiaries.
