Olhão marked World Blood Donor Day with donation

The objective was to «raise the awareness of the population of Olhão to the importance of blood donation»

The municipal leaders of Olhão marked the World Day of the Blood Donor with a donation, on 14 June. 

In order to «raise the awareness of the population of Olhão to the importance of blood donation», António Miguel Pina, president of the municipality, councilor Ricardo Veia Calé, Luís Gomes, commander of the Municipal Fire Department, and Isabel Lobo, commander of the Municipal Police, traveled to to the Immunohemotherapy Service of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve, in Faro, to know the main challenges of the service and, at the same time, make your
part, presenting themselves as donors.

The municipal leaders were received by José Delgado Márquez, director of the Service, who «thanked the gesture of solidarity and awareness of the approximately 45 people from Olhão», emphasizes the Municipality of Olhão.

In a statement, the municipality explains that to be a blood donor you must: be over 18 years of age; have a weight equal to or greater than 50 kg; be generally healthy; have healthy living habits and freely want to make their donation.
