Loulé hosts National School Sports Championships

Between June 30th and July 3rd

Loulé will host this year the National School Sports Championships for Initiates, between the 30th of June and the 3rd of July. 

The event, which will be attended by more than 1150 students and close to 250 teachers, from all over the country, including the Autonomous Region of Madeira, takes place after a two-year break due to the pandemic.

The competitions that make up these championships involve five modalities: Badminton, Basketball, Boccia, Futsal, Table Tennis and Volleyball.

«Therefore, a journey full of joy and enthusiasm is expected, around the School Sports competitions, which will allow students and teams that qualified in the previous phases (local phase and regional phase), to compete for the places summits of each modality, providing a unique experience for everyone, including the communities that will host these competitions, in this case, the municipality of Loulé", says the City Council in a statement.

The event will start on the 30th of June, Thursday, with the reception of the delegations and with the opening ceremony, taking place at the AquaShow Park facilities, in Quarteira, from 20:00, with the presence of several representative entities from the areas of Education and Sports, but also from the Municipality of Loulé.

The competitions start on the 1st of June, Friday, in several sports facilities in the county.

At the end of this day, the delegations will meet again at the “Gymnic Night”, which will take place at the Loulé Municipal Pavilion “Professor Joaquim Vairinhos”.

On the 2nd of June, Saturday, the competitions continue, with the afternoon period reserved for the finals and for the award ceremonies, ending the day with the Final Party, which takes place in the Municipal Pavilion.

On the 3rd, Sunday, the delegations return to their respective destinations of origin.

This competition is organized by the Directorate-General for Education – Division of School Sports, in conjunction with the Directorate-General for School Establishments – Directorate of Services for the Algarve Region, and with the important partnership and support of the Municipality of Loulé.

The event has the seal of “Loulé Commitment to Sport”.
