Faro promotes annual rabies vaccination campaign

Within the scope of the National Program for the Fight and Epidemiological Surveillance of Animal Rabies and other Zoonoses

The Municipality of Faro will once again promote the annual rabies vaccination campaign, starting on 23 June.

The initiative, which takes place within the scope of the National Program for the Fight and Epidemiological Surveillance of Animal Rabies and other Zoonoses, is carried out in partnership with the General Directorate of Food and Veterinary (DGAV) and provides for the travel of the municipal veterinarian to 20 strategic points of all parishes in the municipality of Faro, between the 23rd of June and the 11th of August.

From October 1st, vaccination will be carried out on Tuesdays, between 10:00 am and 11:30 am, at the veterinary medical office, located in the former Estoi Supply Market.

The City Council of Faro recalls in a statement that rabies vaccination is mandatory for all canids aged three months or more and that this procedure is subject to payment of the vaccination fee annually determined by the DGAV and according to the period in which it is applied.

The dissemination of this campaign will be done through the posting of a public notice both in the offices of the parish councils and in the different places where it will take place. More information on dates, times and locations can be consulted at Municipality website.
