Chamber honors FC Ferreiras and Albufeira Basketball Club for sporting achievements

Clubs moved up in the division at the end of last season

Futebol Clube de Ferreiras and Clube de Basket de Albufeira were honored by the Albufeira Council for the titles won this season and for the promotion of the division, in a ceremony that took place yesterday, June 22, at the Salão Nobre dos Paços do Concelho.

FC Ferreiras was the champion of the 1st District Football Division, guaranteeing the promotion of the division to the Portuguese Championship.

CBA placed 2nd in the National Basketball Championship of the 2nd division Zona Sul (CNB2) and rose to the National Basketball Championship of the 1st division CNB1.

At the ceremony, José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, said he was proud of the achievements achieved by the two teams, “since it is a prestige and a benefit for Albufeira, as it takes the name of the county further”.

«Supporting sport is not an expense, on the contrary, it is a great investment that we make in the youth of our county, as the values ​​transmitted during sports training will result in good human training», added the mayor, who received not only the athletes and coaches, but also the medical team and managers of the honored clubs.

«It is a prestige to know that you are so well positioned and it is a source of pride for all of us, as you carry the name of Albufeira ever further», said the mayor, who congratulated them «for their effort, commitment and dedication to a very important mission. commendable".

António Colaço, president of FC de Ferreiras, a club that has more than 600 federated athletes, "of which 70 percent are under 20 years of age", representing "almost 30 percent of all federated athletes in the county", thanked the homage and support received from the municipality, which «will bear good fruit, in the formation of better citizens».

Marcos Bila, president and one of the founders of the CBA, said it was «gratifying to have our work recognized» and recalled the creation of the senior team two years ago, with the intention of continuing the training of athletes.

The same official also highlighted the “mini-basket” project, which involves 153 children from primary schools in Albufeira.
