Athlete from Messines called up to the national wheelchair handball team

Tiago Cantigas is 31 years old, is a GNR by profession and has played for two seasons at the Casa do Povo de Messines

Tiago Cantigas, athlete from Casa do Povo de Messines, is one of two athletes called up for the national wheelchair handball team to compete in a tournament from Friday to Sunday, 1st to 3rd of July, in Lyon (France). 

In the words of coach Danilo Ferreira, «this tournament is very positive to study Portugal's future opponents in the European Championship.

“November, which is when we will have the European Championship and maybe the World Cup, is getting closer. We want to have a good performance, of course. Portugal has always been at a good level in wheelchair handball and we want to keep that tradition”, she adds.

Tiago Cantigas is 31 years old, is a GNR by profession and has played for two seasons at Casa do Povo in Messines.

In addition to the right winger of Eduard Galesloot's team, who is also part of the entourage is Daniela Faria, a physiotherapist of the Messines team who, since 2015, has also been part of the technical team of the national wheelchair handball team.
