Students from Olhão went to Denmark to «reflect on food waste»

Within the scope of the Erasmus + project “Happy, Healthy, Wise and Wealthy”

Five students and two teachers from the EB I/JI José Carlos da Maia School, from the Professor Paula Nogueira de Olhão Group, traveled to Aalborg, Denmark, between the 28th of May and the 2nd of June, to «reflect on food waste and the importance of to reduce it”. 

The trip took place within the scope of the Erasmus + project “Happy, Healthy, Wise and Wealthy”, encompassed five countries – Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Denmark and the Netherlands – and aimed to «raise participants' awareness of various environmental issues, such as recycling, food waste, harmful gases, the importance of green areas in urban environments and energy», explains Professor Carla Cássio, from the Professor Paula Nogueira Group, in a statement.

In what was the second mobility of this project, dedicated to the theme of food waste, the participants visited a waste collection and separation center and a supermarket that sells products that are approaching the end of their expiration date or damaged, having also prepared a meal with expired products.

The next mobility of this project will take place in October, in Murcia, Spain, and its theme will be the importance of green areas in cities.
