Albufeira remembers “A Different Algarve” with Artur Pastor

Entry will be free

The exhibition “A Different Algarve”, which is part of the celebrations of the centenary of the photographer Artur Pastor, opens on June 10, at 18:00, at Esplanada Dr. Frutuoso da Silva, in Albufeira.

It is a set of 60 photographs, in black and white, by Artur Pastor, which aim to make known the work of the author, who captured, the region and its landscapes, with its people and customs and the identity of a coastal and rural Algarve between the 40s and 70s.

«Artur Pastor was a great fan of Albufeira and he revealed the city through his own eyes, having gained a huge affection from the people of Albufeira who still remember his presence», recalls the Albufeira Chamber.

It was precisely at the Pintor Samora Barros Art Gallery that the photographer presented his last exhibition, “Algarve (50s-60s) – Some notes”, in 1998.

The exhibition will be open to the public until the 10th of June 2023 and admission is free.

The exhibition comes together as a result of a collaboration between the Municipalities of Albufeira and Lisbon.
