AF Algarve promotes open training to help refugees from Ukraine

On the 1st of July, at the Penha Sports Complex

The Algarve Football Association will hold a football training session open to the Ukrainian community in the Algarve, for children and young people from 6 to 18 years old, on the 1st of July, starting at 16:00 pm, at the Penha Sports Complex, in Faro, next to the Municipal Swimming Pools.

The initiative aims to «help refugees from Ukraine who continue to arrive in the Algarve, supporting them in their integration into the various sectors of the region, including sports, namely through interconnection with clubs in the municipalities where they live so that the practice regular physical activity can be a reality», highlights AF Algarve in a statement. 

With the motto “Each Club, a Family” – A plan to help Ukraine, promoted by the Portuguese Football Federation, the Algarve Football Association intends to continue the project at a regional level.

Anyone who wants to can contribute to the cause by donating clothing and/or non-perishable food items during the event.

The initiative has the support of the Regional Directorate of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, the Algarve Food Bank, the Association of Ukrainians in the Algarve and the Luso-Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Centre.
