This Friday, June 24th

The Coastal Control Unit seized this Friday, June 24, about 900 kilos of fish, at the Lota and Fishing Port of Quarteira.

During the operation, which took place “as part of an inspection action aimed at monitoring fish landings from commercial fishing”, the National Guard Republicada (GNR) identified “infractions related to the non-submission of fish to the first sale regime”. at auction and due to lack of traceability'.

Following the action, a 51-year-old woman was the subject of the respective administrative offense records, whose fine can exceed 3740 euros for evading the first sale regime.

After a hygienic-sanitary inspection by the veterinarian, about 25 kilos of fish were donated to a charity institution for not meeting the minimum market sizes, the remainder being sold at auction.

The GNR stresses, in a statement, that “the first sale of all fresh fish must be carried out at auction through the auction system”.

“The practice of sustainable fishing that respects nature and the integrity of ecosystems contributes to the conservation of fish stocks”, concludes the Guarda Nacional Republicana.
