Lagoa wines awarded in the Cities of Wine Competition

ARVAD, Touriga Nacional and Marquês dos Vales, Grande Escolha were the awarded wines

ARVAD, Touriga Nacional and Marquês dos Vales, Grande Escolha, both produced in the municipality of Lagoa, were distinguished in the Cities of Wine Competition, held in Setúbal, between 5 and 8 May.

Algarve wines won the Great Gold Medal (ARVAD) and the Gold Medal (Quinta dos Vales).

The second edition took place at the School of Hospitality and Tourism, where 346 wines from 55 municipalities participated in the competition, evaluated by 30 judges, with António Ventura as director of the competition and Eduardo Abade as technical manager.

According to the Municipality of Lagoa, in this edition 30 Great Gold Medals and 83 Gold Medals were awarded, with the award ceremony being held on the 11th of June, at the National Agriculture Fair, in Santarém.

The competition is a joint organization of the Association of Portuguese Wine Municipalities (AMPV) and the Association of Wine Routes of Portugal (ARVP), with its first edition taking place in Lagoa.

“I want, on behalf of the municipality, to publicly congratulate the two award-winning farms. It is, without a doubt, another clear evidence of the good quality of wines from the Algarve and, in particular, from Lagoa”, said Luís Encarnação, Mayor of Lagoa.
