Three municipalities in the Algarve will host the Atlantic Nautical Games in 2024

In July 2024

Vila Real de Santo António, Alcoutim and Castro Marim will host, in July 2024, the «Náuticos do Atlântico 2024», together with Ayamonte and Isla Cristina. 

The international dimension event, organized mainly by the Ayuntamiento de Ayamonte, met this Thursday, May 28, with all the partner municipalities, with VRSA being represented by Álvaro Araújo, mayor.

The Atlantic Nautical Games are based on the main nautical sports and are promoted by a restricted circle of Euroregions of the Atlantic Arc, in an event aimed at the young population, and take place annually with around 500 participants.

The event takes place over a period of five days, including Sailing, Canoeing, Rowing, Kitesurfing, Surfing, Swimming, StandUpPaddle, Surfing and LifeSaving.

In VRSA sailing competitions take place, while Monte Gordo welcomes Open Water Swimming. The following modalities will take place in the remaining territories: Canoeing (Alcoutim), Finning Swimming / Rowing / Sport Fishing (Castro Marim), LifeSaving / KiteSurfing / Surfing (Ayamonte) and StandUpPaddle (Isla Cristina).

«Athletes are expected to be housed in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, taking into account the fact that the municipality has the ideal conditions for this purpose», says the VRSA Chamber.

Also involved in organizing the event are the Baixo Guadiana Nautical Station, the Isla Canela Nautical Club and the Guadiana Naval Association.
