Terra de Maio returns to Azinhal with a hot air balloon and lots of gastronomy

On the musical lineup, this year there will be concerts by Némanus (28th at 22h00) and ÍRIS (29th May at 19h00)

Ride a hot air balloon, make artisanal cheese, practice horseback riding or attend two musical shows. The event “Terra de Maio” returns, from the 27th to the 29th of May, to the village of Azinhal (Castro Marim), always with the motto of promoting and increasing the Algarvian Goat and the knowledge and flavors associated with it.

Taking place at the Azinhal Multipurpose Pavilion, in this edition of Terra de Maio you will also be able to experience the art of milking.

«The event strives to present a diverse range of activities articulated with the values ​​of the interior and the region, as well as bringing to the venue the flavors of the rural world, whether in the gastronomy taverns, or in wine tastings and showcooking, which range from liven up the three days of Terra de Maio», says the Chamber of Castro Marim.

In this field, the highlight goes to the demonstrations by the VRSA Hotel and Tourism School (May 27, at 18:30 pm) and by the renowned chefs Noélia Jerónimo (May 28, at 17:00 pm), Leonel Pereira (May 29, at 16:30 pm] and Ricardo Silva (May 29, at 18 pm].

There will also be space for the presentation of wines from the Algarve, by the Algarve Wine Commission, on the 27th of May, at 19:00.

Still in the area of ​​gastronomy, one of the biggest bets of the event is the 4th edition of the “Maior Queijo de Cabra de Breça Algarvia”, which takes place on the 28th of May, at 18:00.

This was a challenge proposed by the municipality of Castro Marim to ANCCRAL (National Association of Algarvian Goat Breeders) and which will result in a fresh cheese weighing approximately 40 kilos and 80 cm in diameter, for which about 170 liters of milk will be needed. .

On the musical lineup, this year there will be concerts by Némanus (28th at 22:00) and ÍRIS (29th of May, at 19:00).

In a territory where Algarve culture merges with Andalusian culture, Castilian music will also be staged. In terms of animation, there is also the play “That's what my Maria likes”, by the Centro e Cultura e Desporto do Trabalhadores da Câmara Municipal, which will premiere on the 27th at 21:00.

«On Saturday, the morning is dedicated to a seminar that will bring important contributions in relation to the different frameworks in the creation of indigenous breeds, with the participation of the General Directorate of Food and Veterinary, the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve and the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests», says the Chamber of Castro Marim.

For motorbike lovers, on Sunday, at 9:00 am, the 3rd Motorbike Encounter takes place, departing from Largo do Mercado, organized by the Associação Recreativa e Cultural do Azinhal. On the same morning, there is a walk, for all who want to join, departing from Casa do Povo do Azinhal.

The exhibition of Autochthonous Breeds: Algarvian Breed Goat; Sheep Churra e Vaca de Raça Algarvia, the exhibition of “Artifacts Agrícola e do Mundo Rural” and the Queijaria do Centro Multiusos, in permanent operation, are other attractive factors of this Land of May.

The event is organized by the Municipality of Castro Marim and the Parish Council of Azinhal, with the collaboration of the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Vila Real de St. António, National Association of Algarvian Breed Goat Breeders (ANCCRAL), Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve, General Directorate of Food and Veterinary, Algarve Wine Commission, Natural.pt brand, Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests, Odiana Association, Azinhal People's House, Azinhal Recreational and Cultural Association and CCD of the Castro Marim City Council.
