PSD says that the State Budget leaves out measures for the Algarve to «progress»

In a public position

The State Budget for 2022 «does not allow the Algarve to leave the house of departure», as it leaves out «essential issues to make the region progress», accused the PSD.

The PSD's Algarve District Political Commission met on Tuesday “to discuss the budget and its effects for the Algarve” and concluded that the main problems in the area of health, mobility and economics do not have answers in the document.

«The new hospital - mentioned, but without funding, model or deadlines -, the issue of family doctors - many thousands of users still unprotected -, the requalification of the EN 125 or fiscal and other instruments to encourage the much-needed diversification of the economy or compliance with the 50% reduction in tolls, which has been law since 2021, but the Government does not comply», are some examples given by the PSD.

Cristóvão Norte, president of the PSD Algarve, recalls that «the PS has been in power for 7 years», but that, «unfortunately, in vital matters, those that most concern the Algarve, which jeopardize their quality of life and access to fundamental rights, such as health, water, housing, mobility (except the electrification of the road, a good measure planned since 2014), the diversification of the economic base, we are wasting time and not creating conditions for people to live better and carry out their life projects».

“The PSD, through its deputies, will present proposals on these issues, as it has to be clear that it is possible to take things forward and overcome this shortage of measures for a region that has serious bottlenecks”, he concluded.
