Portugal freezes Abramovich's Quinta do Lago house valued at 10 million

A property of the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich located in Quinta do Lago, in the municipality of Loulé, valued at 10 million euros, was frozen on March 25 at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Jornal Público reported this Saturday.

Second the investigation carried out by the Public, it all started with an alert from Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) to the Financial Information Unit (UIF) of the Judiciary Police (PJ).

«An application for a home loan for the acquisition of a property in Quinta do Lago, Algarve, in February, valued at ten million euros, caught the attention of the banking institution. The buyer, who requested the loan from CGD, was David William Dalzell, a native of Northern Ireland, in the United Kingdom. The request was made fifteen days before Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

«The amount requested was five million euros, intended for the purchase of a villa in Quinta do Lago for the value of ten million. The property was registered with the Land Registry Office of Olhão, under matrix n.º 12844, with the name of “Lot n.º 17 – São Lourenço Norte”, and consisted of a “plot of land for construction urban”, states the Público newspaper.
