After Algarve nurses strike held last Thursday, May 5th, the PCP salutes the struggle of these professionals, saying that it will present proposals that meet their demands in the debate on the OE 2022.

The Portuguese Communist Party says that it expresses support “to the just demands of these workers aimed at enhancing their careers and professions, increasing wages, paying unpaid working hours and respecting the commitments made by the Government – through the CHUA and the ARS Algarve – namely in relation to career progressions».

In the strike promoted by the Union of Portuguese Nurses, which gathered dozens of people at the entrance to the Hospital de Faro, also a delegation from the PCP – which had the participation of Celso Costa, member of the Central Committee of the PCP – was present.

«The PCP not only does not forget the role of nurses, but also of the other health professionals, in defending the SNS, as was evident during the most acute period of the epidemic, as it reaffirms its commitment to the appreciation of work and workers, the guarantee of the right to health, the improvement of living conditions and the development of the country», the Communist Party said in a statement.
