The Lagos City Council approved the Study for the Development of the Municipality's Bio-Waste Collection System.
This is a new challenge in terms of urban waste management that the municipalities, in conjunction with the entities involved in the process and the active involvement of the population, will have to respond to by 31 December 2023.
According to this study, bio-waste represents 48,6% of the undifferentiated waste collected in the municipality, of which 35,6% is food waste and 13% corresponds to green waste.
The document also points out, depending on the characteristics of the territory and the profile of the producers, the various solutions to be implemented to meet the goals of selective collection of bio-waste.
The study is subject to ALGAR's opinion and public consultation.
