Lagoa debates its Religious, Architectural and Artistic Heritage

Within the scope of the monographic heritage inventory/catalog project

“The Religious, Architectural and Artistic Heritage of the Municipality of Lagoa” is the theme of the first of the Casa da Cidadania Conferences, scheduled for the Municipal Library of Lagoa, on Saturday, May 7, at 16 pm.

According to the Câmara de Lagoa, «within the scope of the monographic inventory/catalog project of the political-administrative heritage and memory of the municipality, the inventory of the historical, architectural and artistic heritage of this territory is in progress».

This inventory/catalogue, «supported by fieldwork and careful criticism of sources and bibliography, covers the entire religious heritage and also aims to disseminate knowledge about this heritage area».

The conference aims to disseminate the work methodology, based on information management, and share some of the data still under construction.

«This work focuses not only on the heritage noble, as is the case, for example, of the Mother Church of Estômbar, but also in the small heritage, such as the Passos da Paixão de Cristo in the city of Lagoa», adds the municipality.

The conference will be hosted by Bárbara Santos, who is a Master's student in History and Heritage, with a specialization in Art History, at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Algarve, and a degree (2020) in Art History by the Faculty of Arts of the University from Lisbon.

She is a service provider in the Municipality of Lagoa, as a technician in the area of ​​History of Art, being integrated in the Casa da Cidadania de Lagoa project. Between 2020 and 2021, he held his PEPAL Internship in this Chamber.
