It is already known which are the winning classes of the Águas Sem Fronteiras Tournament

Great Party of the Tournament between classes will be held on June 8

The “Water Without Borders”, a competition between classes that challenged Algarve students to reflect and produce a campaign to encourage water conservation, already has winners. 

The first moment ended with more than 200 groups registered from all the Algarve municipalities and some registrations beyond the Algarve region. The Big Party takes place on June 8, World Oceans Day, at Gaivota beach, in Quarteira.

«Raising awareness and contributing to the formation of citizens who are more aware of water resources was the premise that led Águas do Algarve to launch the "Water Without Borders Tournament", a creative challenge for young people", says Águas de Algarve in a statement.

From the 1st to the 3rd cycle, all students were invited to create an advertising piece that would alert the community to issues associated with the efficient use of water.

In addition to this invitation, recreational-pedagogical materials dedicated to environmental issues were created and instructional videos were provided for the intended purpose of each school cycle.

Based on the creativity, relevance and quality of the work presented, the team “OS POCINHAS”, from the 4th grade of Escola Básica n. : Students will thus receive a science game based on the water theme.

In the second group, from 6th to 9th grade, the winning group was the 7th grade from Escola Básica Tecnopolis, in the Municipality of Lagos.

Due to the victory, the whole class will receive a smartwatch, to better manage their tasks, including those associated with water consumption.

«Because the quality of the works received is of excellence, we could not fail to, in addition to the 2 winners, select the five best works selected to participate in the "Water Without Borders Day", which will be celebrated on June 8, World Oceans Day , on Gaivota beach, in Quarteira», says Águas do Algarve.

The event has the support of the Parish Council of Quarteira and the Municipality of Loulé, and the partners APA and DGestE.

The following classes will be in the final event: “Os Criativos” team – 5th year of São Vicente Basic School – Vila do Bispo; Team “100Água” 9th year of the Basic School of Castro Marim – Castro Marim; Team “As Gotas” – 2/3rd year of Escola Básica JI 1st Cycle D. Francisca de Aragão – Loulé; Team “Os Pocinhas”- 4th year of Escola Básica nº 4 de Olhão – Olhão and Team “7ºG Tecno” – 7th year of Escola Básica Tecnopolis – Lagos.
