Impact of the 13 years of Via Algarviana is the subject of debate in Loulé

Session is promoted by Almargem

Via Algarviana turns 13 tomorrow, Sunday, May 29, and the Almargem Association will celebrate the occasion on June 2, at 9:30 am, with a session that will bring together entities and partner municipalities of this Great Route, taking place in the Sala da Loulé Municipal Assembly.

The initiative “13 years of Via Algarviana: what has changed in low-density territories?” includes «a balance of the actions that have been developed by the management team of Via Algarviana and a preview of the new dissemination materials of this Great Route with the national and international public», according to Almargem.

Anabela Santos, coordinator of Via Algarviana, will present the ongoing actions within the scope of the applications "Revitalize Monchique, tourism as a catalyst" (funded by Turismo de Portugal) and "Via Algarviana: Along the Heritage Paths" (integrated in the Operation - 10.2.1.6 .2020 – Renovation of villages, financed by PDRXNUMX).

«These applications include, among other actions, the implementation of new pedestrian routes, which will integrate the more than 800 total kilometers of routes that already exist in the Via Algarviana territory, and dissemination and promotion campaigns», says the association.

 

 

The session continues with the presentation of the new promotional materials, developed within the application “Via Algarviana – (Des)envolvindo o Interior do Algarve”, within the scope of the Valorizar program, Support Line for Tourism Enhancement of the Interior, financed by Turismo de Portugal.

These materials provide Via Algarviana «with a precious set of dissemination tools and provide users of this Great Route with new resources to further explore the region's natural and cultural heritage. The strong focus on international markets, which are increasingly present, has led to the creation of materials in six languages».

At 11:45 am, the roundtable begins, moderated by the journalist Elisabete Rodrigues. Sul Informação, and which includes the interventions of representatives of partner entities and municipalities. The impact of the Via Algarviana and the changes that have taken place in the low-density areas of the Algarve since the creation of this great route are the subject of debate.

The GR13 – Via Algarviana travels mostly through low-density territories and its mission «also involves promoting the natural and cultural heritage of the Algarve interior, favoring the dynamism of small businesses».

The session ends with a moment of celebration, in which a toast will be made and the birthday cake will be cut.

This event has the support of the Municipality of Loulé, d'A Ti Marquinhas, Portal dos Queijos and Quinta do Freixo.
