Italian Film Festival opens in Lagos

Program runs from 25th to 28th of May

This year, the Italian Film Festival opens in Lagos, from the 25th to the 28th of May, with talks and children's sessions at its Municipal Library. 

The program starts on Wednesday, May 25th, with the film The arminuta, by Giuseppe Bonito, which describes the tragicomic experiences of a couple trying to survive their daily lives – between diapers and friends in crisis.

On May 26, the film is shown A Bookstore in Paris, by Sergio Castellitto, a romantic comedy inspired by an unfilmed script by Ettore Scola, and the latest film by actor and director Sergio Castellitto, after Fortunata.

On Friday, the 27th, it airs And noi come stronzi rimanemmo aguardare, by Pif, a comedy with a critical eye on the excess power given to technology and computer algorithms that increasingly mark the rhythm of our lives.  

Saturday, 28, begins with the children's session Leo's Little World, by Giulio Gianini, dedicated to children with films by Giulio Gianini. In the afternoon, the classic Mom Rome, by Pier Paolo Pasolin, a neorealist portrait of maternal martyrdom that marks a transition in the initial filmography of the subversive Pasolini with the Italian Anna Maganani. Afterwards, there will be a meeting with readings around the work of the author, director and intellectual Pier Paolo Pasolini. 

The edition ends with the Italian comedy Come un cat in tangenziale – Ritorno a Coccia di Morto, by Riccardo Milani, which invites us to reflect on major sociocultural issues.

The Italian Film Festival is organized by the Il Sorpasso Association with the support of the Lagos City Council and the Lagos Municipal Library, and all films will be subtitled in Portuguese.
