Farnáutica brings the Sea Economy back to downtown Faro

A Farnáutica – Exhibition of the Sea and Nautical Faro back to Jardim Manuel Bivar, in Baixa de Faro, from Thursday, the 5th, until Sunday, the 8th, after two years of interregnum due to the pandemic.

For four days, in addition to recreational boats and nautical equipment, around two dozen institutions and companies linked to the sea sector will make themselves known.

And, since talking about the sea in the Algarve is talking about what it gives us, «there will be a gastronomy tent with little taverns that will serve lunches, snacks and dinners, essentially with dishes and snacks related to fish and shellfish, such as razor clams, cuttlefish, oysters, clams, conquilhas, crabs, xarém and grilled and fried prawns», according to the União de Freguesias de Faro, which organizes the event.

This exhibition, which is in its 6th edition, aims to promote activities related to the nautical world and the sea sector.

«It is intended, therefore, to strengthen the vocation and relationship of the city of Faro with the coast, with the sea and with the Ria Formosa emphasizing its history, its culture and its identity in which the sea plays a crucial role», adds the organization.

Admission is free and the fair will be open from 11 am to 00 pm.

On Thursday afternoon, the auditorium of the 3HB Hotel will host the conference “MAR: Transforming potential into value”, which will bring together specialists, academics and entrepreneurs in the sector.

Participation is free but subject to prior registration on the website. of the Union of Parishes of Faro, where you can also consult the full program of the fair.

In parallel with this exhibition, the União das Freguesias de Faro will carry out, in partnership with Sport Faro and Benfica, the city's first K1 canoeing tournament, with around a hundred athletes.

The competition will take place in the waters of the Ria Formosa, in front of the sea gates, on the 7th of May. A kayak tour is scheduled for the 8th.

Throughout the event, there will be several conferences, activities and exhibitions promoted by the Centro de Ciência Viva, CIMA, CCMAR, Docapesca and the Blue Flag Association of Europe throughout the fair.
