Covid-19: Active cases and new infections in a week rose in the Algarve

According to the Civil Protection Commission of the Algarve Region

Active cases and the number of new infections by the new coronavirus in a week have risen again in the last seven days, in the Algarve, despite a significant decrease in the number of infected and deaths due to Covid-19, according to data from the weekly status report of the Civil Protection Commission of the Algarve Region this Friday, May 6th.

Yesterday the 5th, at midnight, there were 6438 active cases in the Algarve region, 126 more than those reported last Friday.

Today's report, which refers to the period between 29 April and 5 May, also reports that there were 3277 new cases, with the cumulative total rising to 172.442 in the region.

Despite this rise in terms of cases, the two deaths recorded in the last week are four times less than the eight reported last Friday.

In hospitals, too, there is considerable relief in terms of hospitalizations. This week there are 41 people hospitalized (-12). In intensive care, there are two patients (+1), none of them ventilated.

As for recovered, there were 3149.

At this moment, Municipal Vaccination Centers in Albufeira continue to operate, Faro/Penha, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Olhão, Portimão, Silves and Tavira. In the remaining municipalities (Alcoutim, Aljezur, Castro Marim, Monchique, São Brás de Alportel, Vila do Bispo and Vila Real de Santo António), anti-Covid vaccines are given at Health Centers.

There are also exceptional testing sites, installed by the Municipal Civil Protection Services, in Albufeira, Faro, Lagos, Loulé, Olhão, Portimão, São Brás de Alportel, Silves and Tavira.
