Chapels and morgados are the subject of a conference in Loulé

“Chapels and estates in Loulé (13th-17th centuries)”. This is the subject of a conference on the 30th of May, starting at XNUMX:XNUMX in the ALoulé Municipal File Professor Joaquim Romero Magalhães.

The lecturer Mário Farelo holds a Master's in Arts from the University of Montreal (1999), and a Master's and Doctorate in Medieval History from the University of Lisbon (2004,2009, XNUMX).

He is currently a visiting assistant professor at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2008-2009, 2015-2016, 2021-2022) and is a senior researcher hired under the Erc Vinculum project.

«Chapels and morgados constituted, since the late medieval period, an important resource for the social, economic and symbolic promotion of their founders and their respective descendants. Starting from its definition and the documentary landscape available for its study, this intervention intends to constitute, in a simple way, a first roadmap for the analysis of the social, chronological and even archival scope of the binding phenomenon in the territory of Loulé between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries» , says Loulé City Council.
