26 students from countries such as Belgium, Croatia, Italy and Turkey, who are part of the “Code of Youth: Shield of the Human Rights” project, from the Erasmus+ mobility program, were received this Monday, May 16, at the Albufeira Chamber.

Mayor José Carlos Rolo recalled that, since April 1st, due to the transfer of competences, «some of the initiatives and activities developed in schools became the responsibility of the City Council, facilitating the development of this type of projects that foster cognitive development, encourage reflection and often support the evolution of societies»

«Albufeira is a city by the sea and, obviously, tourist and that welcomes people, not only from Europe, but from all over the world. Evidently, schools are a laboratory for coexistence, cultures and languages, being one of the most important places for promoting the inclusion of new residents», added the mayor to the 26 foreign participants in the project (20 students and 6 teachers).

«The city was considered one of the four best destinations for Digital Nomads in the country», he concluded.

The mayor made a point of reminding students from Belgium, Croatia, Italy and Turkey that «Albufeira, in addition to being a fantastic tourist destination, can be the ideal place to work».

The ceremony ended with the wish to continue a good stay and with the offer of a souvenir to all the participants of the project, which included a manual on the history of the city.
