Algarve Luís Costa is one of the four Portuguese in the Paracycling World Cup

Participates in two stages of the World Cup, in Ostende, Belgium, and in Elzach, Germany

Algarve paracyclist Luís Costa, in H5, is one of the four representatives of Portugal in the Paracycling World Cup.

The National Paracycling Team starts the international season with the participation in two stages of the World Cup, in Ostend, Belgium, and in Elzach, Germany.

José Marques, national paracycling coach, invited four runners for this double international commitment: Bernardo Vieira (Efapel Cycling Academy), who will compete in the C1 class, Telmo Pinão, also from Efapel, who will race in C2, Flávio Pacheco (Santa Cruz /, registered in H4, and Luís Costa, national representative in H5.

The Ostende round takes place between Thursday, May 5th, and Sunday, 12th. On the first two days, time trials are played. Luís Costa and Flávio Pacheco will compete in the individual exercise of 20 kilometers starting at 13:45 pm on Thursday.

The following day, from 8:00 am, it is the turn of Bernardo Vieira and Telmo Pinão to also face the 20 kilometers of time trial.

National participation in long-distance events is also spread over two days. On Saturday, at 14:00, the 81,6 km races for the H4 and H5 classes begin. On Sunday, at 16:30, the riders of the C1 and C2 classes will start for 71,4 kilometers in a peloton.

The national delegation will then travel to Belgium, where the second round of the World Cup will take place, in Elzach.

In this case, the tests with Portuguese participation are spread over three days. On the 13th of May, the individual time trials, of 18,2 kilometers, will be held, starting at 12:30.

The following day Luís Costa enters the track at 13:00 pm and Flávio Pacheco takes to the track at 15:15 pm for the H5 and H4 class long-distance races, which will cover 59,2 kilometres. At 12:30 pm on the 15th, Bernardo Vieira and Telmo Pinão close the national participation in the 44,4 kilometers of C1 and C2.
