Algarve photographer André Boto won the award for best illustration/Fine Art photography and was third in the Advertising/Commercial category in the “European Professional Photographer of the Year 2022” contest, whose awards were delivered on May 1, in Rome.
This competition is organized by the FEP – Federation of Professional European Photographers and aims to distinguish European professional photographers who stand out among 12 categories of photography.
This year, the competition jury received around 2600 images from 26 different countries.
In the end, photos by four Portuguese photographers were distinguished. In addition to the two awards for André Boto, Luís Godinho (2nd Reportage/Photojournalism), Luís Miranda (2nd Sports), Paulo Pinto (2nd Marriage) were also awarded.
The classification of each category is defined by the average of points of the three highest-scoring images of each photographer.
The European Photographer of the Year award is selected from the winners in each category. This year the top distinction went to Spaniard Pedro Saiz.
