Electric vehicles give great help to Infralobo in its CO2 reduction plan

Infralobo's efforts are part of the Municipal Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change of the Municipality of Loulé

Vale do Lobo's municipal company Infralobo reduced 28% of its carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere by 108 tonnes in 2021.

The reduction of Infralobo's ecological footprint has been achieved through several investments made under the Infralobo 2021 Decarbonization Plan, which consisted in the energy transition of the fleet through the acquisition of electric vehicles, and also in the reduction of vehicles at the service of the company, without that the operation is put at risk.

Currently, the distance traveled by electric vehicles at the service of the company represents about 27% of the total distance traveled by all its vehicles, the first being supplied by renewable energy produced by photovoltaic panels installed in the company's car park.

In 2021, the energy produced by photovoltaic panels increased tenfold, while the total consumption of electricity and fossil fuels decreased compared to 2020, contributing to greater autonomy and energy efficiency by the company.

These visible results in various aspects of the company were possible thanks to the incorporation of several technologies in the operation with a view to the efficiency of operations. Infralobo has been certified by the ISO 50001:2019 – Energy Management System since July 2021.
