SEF holds in Faro foreign citizen wanted in Italy for rape of minors

The Aliens and Borders Service (SEF) held this Friday, 22 April, in Faro, a foreign citizen, on whom the warrant of arrest and detention for extradition purposes was issued by the Italian authorities, on suspicion of committing the crime of rape of minors. 

“Yesterday, in the morning, an action was carried out to locate and later identify the citizen, following the analysis of an application for a residence permit in which the European arrest warrant for extradition was detected”, says the SEF in the note sent to the newsroom. .

The action, carried out in Faro, culminated in the detention of the foreign citizen, with the respective communications having been made to the National Office SIRENE and to the Court of Appeal of Évora, where the foreign citizen was presented to the judge, who validated the detention and application of the coercive measure of preventive detention to await extradition.

The detainee was then taken to the Lisbon Prison.
