The photographic exhibition “Oficinas no Cabo do Mundo” arrives in Salir, where it can be visited until the 3rd of May, at the Tourist Office. The exhibition is open from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 00 pm.
“Oficinas no Cabo do Mundo” was a project that involved young people who attend the Professional Course of Tourism Technician at the Cândido Guerreiro Professional School and seniors residing in the parish of Alte, who were invited to “embark on a journey of discovery, exploration, learning, sharing experiences, exchanging knowledge, sharing affections and artistic creation about the Fortress of Sagres. A journey that promoted the development of intergenerational relationships and complicity and motivated the knowledge, appreciation, preservation and dissemination of Heritage».
The itinerant photographic exhibition that resulted from this has been presented in less conventional locations, escaping the conventional visual exhibition space (the gallery), making visitors and populations aware of other possibilities for community use of their built spaces. The Salir Tourist Office, for example, is located in the village's old primary school.
This exhibition shows the whole process of artistic experimentation of the young and seniors involved, through the Logbook, as well as the hundreds of messages in several languages and of all ages from the most diverse visitors (national and foreign tourists, local residents, day care centers and schools, day centers and homes) on Guestbook and still the Press Cuts.
The project, based on an original idea by Isa Catarina Mateus, was developed from May to October 2021 within the scope of the Program for the Promotion and Enhancement of Monuments (DiVaM), of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.
The photographic exhibition “Oficinas no Cabo do Mundo” is “an invitation to visit the Fortress of Sagres through the eyes of others, the way they saw and felt that space, how they discovered the fine lines, the ephemeral shadows, the details, the imperceptible nuances, fleeting moments, paralyzing the movement, immortalizing the moment, photographing in a unique and artistic way, producing unforgettable images and memories, transforming images into poetry, making a click a message, a small detail an instant, a memory» .
The exhibition is promoted by a partnership formed by the In Loco Association, the Parish Council of Alte, the Professional School of Alte, CIPRL and its Professional School Cândido Guerreiro, the Center for Animation and Community Development of the Parish of Alte and the Casa do People of Alte / Altense Youth.
This idea was supported by the Municipal Museum of Loulé, through the Cândido Guerreiro and Condes de Alte Museum Pole, the Algarve Tourism Region and the National and International Federations of Film Clubs.
«Oficinas in Cabo do Mundo brings together in a time and in two spaces, material from three different times: the time of the monument and the time of two human generations. The project is beautiful, almost ethereal, because time is ethereal», says António Martins, president of the Alte Parish Council.
