Ryanair donates 10 euros to Refúgio Aboim Ascensão

Sale of scratch cards on board the airline's flights contributed to this donation

Ryanair announced today the donation of 10.000 euros to Refúgio Aboim Ascensão, in Faro, «in order to support the extraordinary charity work, focused on children victims of neglect».

In a press release, the Irish airline says it is proud to «be a partner of Refúgio Aboim Ascensão, through its scratch card program since 2016 and, with the support of its generous customers, it has raised, to date, 125.000 euros to charities'.

Ryanair's scratch card program has proved popular with its Portuguese customers over the years, offering passengers the opportunity to win generous prizes, including luxury cars and cash prizes, as well as the chance to win €1 million at Ryanair's annual 'Win a Mill' event, held at the airline's headquarters in Dublin, Ireland.

Having first launched its charity scratch card program in 2009, Ryanair has raised a total of €1,6 million for charities across Europe to date.

According to Dara Brady, Marketing Director at Ryanair, “it is an honor to present Refúgio Aboim Ascenção with this donation of 10.000 euros, which represents the contributions of our generous customers both in Portugal and throughout Europe, throughout the year. past".

«Having partnered with Refúgio Aboim Ascenção since 2016, and raised €125.000 over that time, we feel a connection to this charity and our crews are extremely proud to support the incredible work they do in Portugal», adds that responsible.

For her part, Carla Pargana, from Refúgio Aboim Ascenção, points out that “from day one, Ryanair and its staff have always been available to understand and support our child emergency work, with several visits to our children throughout of all these years, since 2016".

“Our thanks also go out to passengers who continue to help children purchase scratch cards and maintain our conviction that every individual child has the right to be loved and to have a safe place to live with their parents and family.
