PSD/Algarve says that discussion of the Government program brings nothing “innovative” to the region

There are, nevertheless, two highlights that the PSD highlights: the registration of the Hospital Central do Algarve and the issues of water efficiency

The PSD/Algarve considers that the discussion of the Government's program did not bring “anything substantially innovative” to the region, even so, highlighting the registration of the Central Hospital.

In a press release, the Algarve Social Democrats highlight the «omissions», such as «the diversification of the economy, the use of the sea, the requalification of the 125, the Port of Cruzeiros de Portimão, access to housing, the scarcity of human resources , whether in the area of health or others, or a clear project to transform mobility in the region».

There are, however, two highlights that the PSD highlights: the registration of the Hospital Central do Algarve and the issues of water efficiency.

In the first case, according to Cristóvão Norte, president of the PSD/Algarve, «it is recalled that it was this Government that launched five hospitals, having not respected the order of priorities established by the State in 2005, which established the new central hospital in the Algarve in second place".

“It was these same officials who year after year ensured that the hospital would be launched the following year. Never was. No Algarve person forgets the first stone launched 15 years ago”, he adds.

PSD/Algarve argues that the "Hospital is necessary to attract human resources, to improve access to health and to expand the services available in the region, but it should benefit from a university nature, in order to value training and invest in innovation and development of health-related industries, such as advanced biotechnology at the University of Algarve».

“The PSD Algarve will be at the forefront of achieving this objective, not least because it has been its most staunch supporter and has even managed to include the new hospital in previous State budgets, and the Government has not complied with the law”, he adds.

As for water efficiency, the Social Democrats hope “that the calendar, actions, funding and studies that support the political decision will be known, which has not happened so far, assuming that a plan is vital for the region of economic development that takes into account the limitations of available water resources'.
