Farense won 1-0 against Sporting da Covilhã, in the 28th round of the II Football League, played this Sunday, April 3, at Estádio de São Luís, in Faro.

Buoyed by the recent victories, the Algarve team entered the game well.

In the 2nd minute, Madi Queta had a good chance, but the header, after a strong cross from the right, went wide.

Covilhã, coached by Leonel Pontes, managed to balance the match and, at 25′, could have scored. Felipe Dini's shot, inside the area, brought a lot of danger to Defendi's goal.

In a well disputed first half, Elves Baldé, one of the novelties of Farense's starting 11, shot hard, with his left foot, at the entrance of the area, forcing Leo to defend forward (27′).

In the second half, both teams continued in search of the goal. The best opportunity came at 74′ and went to Farense. After a corner, the ball fell to Lucca who, already on the fall, shot just wide of the post.

The goal would come a short time later. Recently entered, Pedro Henrique was fouled inside the area and the referee awarded a penalty.

Called to convert, the Brazilian striker did not fail and made it 1-0, in the 78th minute.

At 88′, Covilhã could have equalized, but Defendi was giant between the posts and saved a header from Camilo.

With this victory, the third in a row, the Algarves now have 37 points and are in 10th position, already far from the places of descent.
