Masks are no longer mandatory in indoor spaces and schools

Council of Ministers met today to approve the measures

The use of a mask in indoor spaces and in schools will no longer be mandatory, the Minister of Health has just announced.

At a press conference, Marta Temido said that masks will only be required in homes, hospitals and public transport.

The official explained that “the conditions for the non-compulsory use of masks are met”, since, “to date, the country registers 583 cases per XNUMX inhabitants”.

Furthermore, «the number of patients admitted to intensive care is stable and decreasing».

These new rules will come into force when the resolution of the Council of Ministers is published in the Diário da República.

Even so, if necessary, the Government assumes that it can reverse this decision and tighten restrictions again.
