Loulé will support IPSS with one million to promote the county's social development

Loulé Social Development Support Program 2022 was presented to the social partners

The Loulé Chamber has one million euros to support social development for Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS) in the municipality, the municipality announced this Friday, April 1st.

Yesterday, the municipal executive presented to 32 social partners working in the municipality of Loulé the Loulé Social Development Support Program 2022, «a crucial instrument for the IPSS to carry out their activities» and which follows the path of the programs that the Loulé City Council started to develop in 2016.

These entities have until the end of April to apply for this program, which will be analyzed and submitted to the Chamber meeting in May and June. After this validation, the program contracts will be concluded. The implementation of the measures will take place during the second half of the year.

Of the measures envisaged in the plan, the Loulé Chamber highlights five, first of all one that “concerns support for the institutions’ current activities, which will allow each entity to obtain a maximum support of 20 thousand euros”.

The municipality will also support “the maintenance and renovation of buildings and, on the other hand, energy efficiency, in order to improve the institutions' facilities, in a commitment that meets the sustainability policies promoted by the municipality”.

This year also includes “support for works to adapt the legionella control systems, a public health situation that can cause problems for institutions and users”.

«The issue of the acquisition of computer equipment and other essential equipment for the institution to develop its activities was also addressed,
as well as support for the acquisition of vehicles, intended for institutions that transport users or provide home support and that need a vehicle for the development of these social responses. The last measure presented concerns extraordinary support, namely support programs and food emergencies», concluded the Chamber.

At the meeting with the partners, Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé, explained that the objective of this support is to ensure “that the IPSS are robust, with good conditions to be able to provide social work that is absolutely essential, even because we want an inclusive municipality, cohesive and sustainable”.

On the topic of the war in Ukraine, the mayor left a request to all the social representatives who participated in this session: "If any of your institutions receive refugee victims of the war, I ask for the utmost attention and the utmost affection, look at the situation from the point of view of humanitarian point of view, because they are people who left their lands, where they had organized lives and were happy».

Vítor Aleixo also took stock of what has been the Municipal Housing Strategy of Loulé, namely the 12 requests for support generated within the scope of the partnership with the IHRU, in the order of 15 million euros, to solve the problems in the municipality.

Finally, the mayor of Loulé left a note in relation to policies to respond to the problems of the elderly, as well as the new approaches to active aging that had a high moment with the recent inauguration in the village of Alte of the National Observatory. of Aging.
