The Lagoa International Tournament will take place at the Jacinto Correia Municipal Pavilion, in the city of Lagoa, between the 14th and 16th of April. The Tournament, which starts with a Portugal Vs Norway, at 15:00 this Thursday, aims to prepare the men's under-18 team for participation in the European Championship, which will take place in Montenegro, between the 1st and 14th of August.
After participating in the International Tournament in Hungary, which took place between the 17th and 19th of March, the U18 handball team is undergoing an internship in Lagoa, where it will participate in the International Tournament, facing the teams from Norway, the Netherlands and Poland.
For the tournament, coach Nuno Santos called 16 athletes, including the call-up of the right winger of Lagoa Académico Clube, André Palmeira.
«It is a great joy to have Lagoa again as the stage for major events and to see the county being chosen to host internships and tournaments for the national teams», stressed Luís Encarnação, mayor of Lagoa.
In addition to the international tournament, Lagoa will also promote, in these days, at the Jacinto Correia Municipal Pavilion, the training session “Handball – When and How?”, which will have as speakers João Comédias, Ana Ramires and João Castro and co-organization of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and IP Youth, Handball Federation of Portugal, Algarve Handball Association, Lagoa City Council, Lagoa and Carvoeiro Parish Union and Lagoa Academic Club.
