Covid-19: Number of new cases and deaths in a week drop

There was a slight increase in hospital admissions

Portugal had 2528 fewer confirmed cases of Covid-19 between the 5th and 11th of April than it had the previous week, according to the weekly situation report of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) released this Friday, the 15th. Of april. Deaths also declined, but there was a slight increase in hospital admissions.

Across the country, during this period, 59.434 new cases were recorded. In the same seven days, there were 145 deaths, 7 less than the previous week.

The Algarve followed the trend of cases, in terms of the number of cases in a week (-379, 3574 in total) and had the same deaths as in the previous week: 9. Alentejo, on the other hand, contradicts the national trend both in the number of new cases (+7, 4247 in total).

 

 

In the country's hospitals, on April 11, 1172 people were hospitalized, 62 more than in the previous week. In intensive care, there are 60 patients, the same number reported a week ago.

The incidence dropped to 577 cases per 100 inhabitants, a decrease of 4% compared to the previous week.

OR(t), or transmission rate, is at 0,94.

 

 

Friday is also the day for the weekly situation of the Civil Protection Commission of the Algarve Region, which reports 3381 new cases in the region, in the period between 9 and 14 April.

In the same period there were 2964 patients recovering from the disease and 9 deaths. In this way, active cases rose to 7515, 356 more than last week.

As for hospitalizations, until 00:00 on 14 April there were 52 Covid patients hospitalized in Algarve hospitals (+1), of which 2 in Intensive Care (-2) and one ventilated patient (+1).
