Covid-19: Number of cases, deaths and hospitalizations decreased

In one week, 61.988 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus were detected

The number of Covid-19 cases, deaths and hospitalizations is falling. This is the main conclusion of weekly situation report from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) for the period between 29 March and 4 April. 

In those seven days, 61.988 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus were detected, 8093 fewer than those reported a week ago.

At the same time, there was also a drop in admissions to hospitals across the country. There are now a total of 1110 people hospitalized (-70) in the ward and 60 in intensive care (-1).

Over the period under review, there were 145 deaths from Covid-19 throughout the national territory, 5 less than in the previous week.

Most of the deaths occurred in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region (54 more, or 2 more than the previous week), followed by the Center (34 deaths, +1), the North (22, -10 than the week before), Alentejo (12, +5), Madeira (9, -2), the Algarve (8, -6) and the Azores (6, +5).

The incidence continues to fall and settled at 602 cases per 100 inhabitants, a decrease of 12% in relation to the previous week.

OR(t), or transmittance rate, also dropped to 0,95.
