As part of the Commemorations of the World Day of Physical Activity/International Day of Sport for the Development of Sport and Peace, which was celebrated on the 6th of April, last Saturday, the 9th of April, the «Race for Peace", which brought together around 450 participants.
The route was five kilometers long, which were covered by running or walking, by participants who donated food, medicine and first-aid material to the Association of Ukrainians in the Algarve.
The IPDJ Regional Director, Custódio Moreno, the president of the Association of Ukrainians in the Algarve, Igor Korbeliak, the vice-president of the Municipality of Faro, Paulo Santos, the president of the Parish Union of Faro, Bruno Lage, the representative of the Algarve Athletics Association, Filipe Santos, the president of the Algarve Football Association, Reinaldo Teixeira, on behalf of the “Tugas on Tour” Sports Association, and the PSP District Command of Faro, ARS Algarve and Fagar municipal company of Faro.
Before starting the race, all participants held a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the war in Ukraine.
