Maro, Plasticine, Mallu Magalhães, O Gajo, GO_A, Chico Trujillo and Oum are some of the 33 names already confirmed for the 30th edition of Festival MED, which, between 3 June and XNUMX July, will once again bring «the world» to «inside Loulé».
These were the words of Carlos Carmo, councilor of the Loulé City Council, who this Saturday, April 23, when presenting the poster, said that it is with "great satisfaction" that he sees the MED Festival return in full to the city.
«It is a great happiness because the MED Festival not only has a function of entertainment, as a music and multidisciplinary event, but also has a role in the economic dynamics of our county and a very strong tourist function. 40% of the visitors to the festival are tourists, and, of those 40%, 39% have already chosen to come to the Algarve, at that time, because there is the MED Festival. These are factual data that allow us today to direct what our promotion is", said the councilor ao Sul Informação.
After a one-year break (2020) and a special edition adapted to the pandemic, interMEDio (2021), this year the MED Festival reopens the historic area of Loulé for 90 hours of music, 66 concerts (spread over 12 stages). ), 330 musicians, 100 handicraft exhibitors, 4 art exhibitions in various parts of the venue, 12 daily street entertainment groups and more than 21 nationalities.
To journalists, Carlos Carmo insisted on stressing the factors he considers to be signs of the importance of the festival and the way it is planned: «we always try to bring a new country (in this case, a band from Mauritania comes); we also have, this year, a group from Cape Verde, which purposely joined to come to the MED Festival, with big names from that country; even before the Eurovision contest happened, we had already confirmed a Portuguese name that you could see, Maro; and we ended the festival with a DJ from Loulé who will create a specific project to close the MED.
As for the stages, Carlos Carmo reveals that the main points continue to be four (Palco Cerca, Stage, Castelo, Stage Chafariz and Stage Matriz), but, in addition to these, there will be eight more spaces where the remaining 33 names yet to be announced will also perform.
Ticket prices will be unveiled on May 29 (when the second presentation of the poster and other news takes place), but the councilor of the Loulé City Council says, for now, that there will continue to be the Festival ticket and the Family ticket. , created by Festival MED with all age groups in mind.
