Loulé Library presents the book “Nave do Barão – Memória e Identidade” on 28 April

The Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen Municipal Library, in Loulé, presents the book “Nave do Barão – Memória e Identidade”, on the 28th of April, at 18:30, under the heading “Open Books”.

This is an editorial project by a group of 15 natural or resident people at Nave do Barão. “Nave do Barão – Memória e Identidade” thus addresses themes such as the women and men of Nave do Barão, popular wisdom, traditions, beliefs and myths, associations and social dynamics, rural life and economic activity, wild plants, gastronomy, among others. others.

«This book invites the reader on a journey through time, by revisiting memories, mapping routes in the red land of dreams and giving visibility to the pulse of an interior village, in the heart of the Central Algarve, with its rhythms and life cycles, marked by the seasons of the year and the socially significant moments, characteristic of the rural world", says the Loulé City Council regarding the editorial project that "is born from an act of love for a village in the Algarve Barrocal".

This «intends to be an illustrated narrative, made up of many oral sources and documentary research, with different perspectives, and above all the multiple experiences of concrete people, who, animated by hope, in their work and collective becoming, fought over the centuries for a life and a better world».

The work is an edition of the Maria da Conceição Guerreiro Library, owned by the “Os Barões” Association, in partnership with Loulé City Council, Salir Parish Council, Casa da Tita, Stressaway and Morgan's Nature Walks.

The presentation on the 28th will be in charge of Alberto Melo and Júlio Sousa and admission is free.
