BE: State Budget for 2022 «continues to despise the Algarve»

Algarve blockers point the finger at the document

The 2022 State Budget «continues to despise the Algarve» and will make the Portuguese people «poorer, especially the Algarve», accuses the Algarve Left Block (BE).

The blockers came to the public to point the finger at the document, for, among other reasons, not foreseeing «structuring works» for the region.

«There is no public investment, structuring works announced long ago continue to be nothing more than paper, such as the much-desired Central Hospital, investments in Hospitals of Faro and Portimão, the requalification of the EN 125 between Olhão and Vila Real de Santo António, the modernization of rail transport, the construction of a water management and efficiency plan, the requalification of ports and auctions and the de-silting of bars and channels», say.

On the other hand, the budget «continues to be unresponsive and makes people's lives even worse», since «workers will see a real cut in wages and pensions, both in the public and private sector», at a time when that inflation will «shoot to more than 4%» and «prices and taxes will rise».

The BE also says that “the corporate restructuring will lead to the dismissal of thousands of workers” and that “the degradation of public services will be a reality”.
